Ongoing and Upcoming project REACH Activities


"Real Talk" Youth Development Program integrates an evidence-based life skills curriculum with a values-based approach to foster critical thinking, healthy decision-making, and skills development for the workplace, further education, and everyday life.  

Community Beautification Project in Southeast DC’s Anacostia neighborhood will allow youth to apply these skills, learn about environmental stewardship, and realize the valuable role they play in improving their community.

Previous project REACH Activities

u  'Taking it to the Streets" Chicago Road Trip and Summer Youth Program, which thematically addressed self efficacy, leadership, and community activism by gradually nurturing skills and potential within youth and providing them with the tools and resources to engage more positively within their communities. 

u  Philly Road Trip in which youth learned about the rich Muslim history in Philadelphia and gained a sense of community activism through visits with mosque leaders and community activists. 

u  "Avoiding the Criminal Justice System", a seminar which encouraged participating youth to envision a fulfilling life outside of the criminal justice system.

Tutoring Program for high school students, which aids students in completion of schoolwork and understanding of English and Math concepts taught in school. 

u  "Next Step: Young, Muslim, and Preparing for the Future", a seminar which provided practical guidance to Muslim youth seeking employment and included a resume writing workshop as well as mock interviews.

u  Great Falls Hiking Trip connected youth with nature and fostered a sense of camaraderie and reflection, in preparation for the Muslim holy month of fasting.

u  Outdoor Overnight Adventure Retreat focused on building leadership and teamwork skills at the Bar-T retreat facility in Maryland and centered on the theme, "Mind, Body, and Spirit". The retreat was followed by goal setting workshops to translate the youth's short-term and long-term goals into tangible action plans.

u  Community Service Activities including Community Sandwich Shop’s Feeding the Homeless Program. 

u  Arts and Culture Activities such as organizing youth attendance at "The Domestic Crusaders" Book Tour and Culture Show Extravaganza, "Mooz-lum" movie screening, and "Finding Soul Through Sound" an MPAC/M100 concert event.
